Congressman reaches out by reading to children
Rep. Alexander gives back to area youth at Rainbow Children’s Clinic
Lacey Sharp, Ruston Leader
Congressman Rodney Alexander reads to a group of area youth at the Rainbow Health Access Children’s Clinic, located on North Trenton. Rainbow Health Access is a pediatric clinic that participates in the Reach Out and Read program that incorporates the importance of early literacy with routine doctor visits.
The typically serene area of the Rainbow Health Access Children’s Clinic waiting room was transformed into a makeshift library for area youth, as Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, in support of the Reach Out and Read organization, recently read to the some attentive tykes.
“Children and curiosity definitely go together, and I applaud the Reach Out and Read program for making books available to feed those young minds,” said Alexander. “With the turn of every page, vocabulary, comprehension and grammar are enhanced. As parents, taking an active role in promoting reading at home helps boost children’s confidence in the classroom and beyond.”
