Alexander hails court ruling on Second Amendment

U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander praised the Supreme Court's ruling Monday that solidified Second Amendment rights, but he remains concerned over the growing desire among some people who want to take away that right.

Alexander, R-Quitman, said the Supreme Court's ruling in McDonald v. Chicago was a victory for upholding the Constitution and the Second Amendment. In McDonald v. Chicago, the court said state and local governments cannot limit or restrict an individual’s Second Amendment right to bear arms.

"I was delighted to hear the decision come down, and while I am proud five of the justices made that decision, I am concerned that four of them voted against it," Alexander said. "I'm just grateful for the five who voted in favor of it."
