The Louisiana Political Museum Hall of Fame increased its own stature last week when two political giants from Louisiana's timber country were inducted. Former State Sen. Randy Ewing and U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, both of Jackson Parish were admitted for honors.
Ewing was a three-term state senator and president of the Senate. His legacy includes the balanced budget amendment, still in force, as well as U.S. Highway 167's entry into the state highway program, which has led to road improvements in north central Louisiana.
Alexander, a former state lawmaker, was elected to Congress in 2002, and has been an important force for infrastructure improvements in the region and growth at our state universities.
Both men, both public spirited and steeped in integrity, continue to lead and serve our region. Their efforts inspire us.
